My roleDiscovery and purchase flows, interface design, and interactive prototyping.
How do you help someone choose a fragrance they cannot smell through a screen? I designed Khaled Scents as an interactive prototype exploring an assistant that starts from a preference and leads to product details the shopper can review. Direct browsing remains available; the assistant simulates a recommendation experience.
The decisions behind the screens
Make a recommendation inspectable.
The assistant scenario starts with a preference for woody scents, then presents a fragrance with its notes, size, price, and a link to its details. The suggestion becomes something to examine, rather than an answer that ends inside the chat.
Separate the suggestion from the purchase.
The product page lets shoppers choose a size and review the description and price before adding to the cart. Products are also available through direct browsing, so conversation is not a required checkout step.
Give an empty cart a useful next step.
The empty state explains why no products appear and offers a return to fragrance discovery. It supports first use and returning after removing selections, rather than leaving a blank screen with no action.
What I took forward
I designed and linked discovery and purchase flows in an interactive prototype. The assistant simulates a recommendation experience. The next research step is to test whether its explanation is sufficient and how shoppers want to change an unsuitable suggestion.
